Open Carry Celebration at Church, June 27th 2009
Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 16:54 I like the thinking of the people at the New Bethel Church in Louisville KY has the right idea. To show their support of the 1st and 2nd Amendment they are asking all their members that can legally own a firearm to open carry the weapon, unloaded, and in a secure holster to church on Sunday June 27th. My only thought is they should encourage this every Sunday and lets load them too. I’ve heard of some churches organizing their members that have concealed carry permits and training them for a armed response to a shooting incident during services.

Here is another link about this church in KY that has a quote by a pastor in Arkansas quoted as saying that firearms are not appropriate in churches and I guess he’s right. As soon as all bad guys have the same opinion then we all can stop carrying to church. One point I have to mention is that he was shot in a service in 1986 but maybe if some of his members where carrying a weapon they could of stopped the bad guy before he was shot.

I guess it was inevitable, the right wing atheist and their media has attacked this great event. The Bible does teach us to love our neighbor and to turn the other cheek but it doesn’t mean we have to lay down and let those that would harm us do so with no resistance. God gave us a since of self preservation and a desire to live didn’t he? As somewhat of a side note we are to hate the sin and love the sinner. Their are many instances in the Bible where the People of God (Pre-Christ) and Christians have defended their selves and our beliefs. I feel very strongly that all Christians should be able and willing to defend them selves physically and spiritually against the forces of satan. We are a peaceful people and should be diligently praying for those that oppose our Lord and our selves and those that would break the laws of Man and of God should be judged and punished as such.
OK, I’m off my soap box now, we need to pray for this church and support our brothers and sisters in Christ.
