Oklahoma House Bill 3114

It’s what we have all been waiting for here in Oklahoma since Mary Fallin took over as Governor of our great state. On February 6th House Speaker Pro Tempore Jeff Hickman introduced a new law making Open Carry a reality. This issue last made it to the desk of then Governor Henery but was not signed into law. During her campaign I had the opportunity to ask her point blank if she would sign a bill making Open Carry legal in Oklahoma which she responded that she most certainly would. It’s time for our Governor to put here money where her mouth is (so to speak) and when this gets to her desk and sign it.

Kudos to Representative Hickman for standing up for our rights and the people his district and the great state of Oklahoma. I might mention that I live in his district so we are pretty proud of him here.

If you live in Oklahoma it’s time to let your voice be heard and lets make sure this bill gets all the support needed to get it passed into law.

Case Damage

Interesting case damage to a 5.56x45 out of a Robinson XCR. The round failed to eject completely and jammed in the chamber when the bolt closed on it.

Maybe it me but it seems in my younger days when I first started shooting back in the early 70s I don’t remember having any case failures such as this on many others I’ve experienced the last few years. What’s the deal? All of them where new ammunition not reloads.

I know I have really been neglecting the site for some time now. What have i been doing you ask? Well, I’ve been using Facebook a lot since it’s just quick and easy since all I have to do is “Like” something then comment on it. But I still want to keep the site going I’m just not sure how to make it as quick and easy for me. I’ve added a few more interests that go along with the intent of the web site so maybe I’ll try to start adding some of that content here. Hang in there and I’ll see what I can get done.

obama is OK with guns???

In a recent interview obama made the following quote: “I should also point out that I have men with guns that surround them, often … ,”. Given that he was “joking” or was he really? It seems those that are surrounded by armed guards don’t have any problem with disarming us that don’t.

If he’s so OK with his daughters being guarded by men with “guns” why doesn’t he think my daughter, sons and grand children should have something similar? Maybe since the liberal left wants to take away our God given right to self protection they need to provide each of us with a armed guard. With the great abundance of money the government has right now they should be able to afford it and think of the jobs that would create….

Osama Bin Laden

Conspiracy theorist are always waiting for the next big event or screw up of the government and this may of been a good one. I understand the desire to make the muslim community happy if that’s possible and follow their guidelines for disposing of his body but maybe they needed to keep the people back here at home happy. It sure does sound a little “fishy” that they dumped him overboard so quick. In order to give the people back home some closure why not let us see the body before you get rid of it. I guess most likely we got him but how can we be sure if we can’t see it for our selves.

I’m guessing he’s sitting in the White House doing shots with his buddy and laughing about how they pulled it off.

By the way, release the photos of the body and the raid. Images can be faked but it’s a start and problebly the best we are going to be able to do.

Indoor Shooting Ranges

I’ve been enjoying the shooting sports for over 40 years now but most of that has been done in the great outdoors. In the last few years I’ve been exposed to the indoor ranges and have been a little intimidated by them. Oklahoma purposes to amend it's "Castle Doctrine" law

HB1439 has passed the House Judiciary Committee and purposes to further strengthen their Castle Doctrine law to include places of business. Since it’s quite long I’ve added a link in the References to the actual bill.

An Act relating to crimes and punishments; creating the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act of 2011; providing presumption of self-defense under certain circumstances; making presumption rebuttable with certain evidence; providing for noncodification; providing for codification; and providing an effective date.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1.     NEW LAW     A new section of law not to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes reads as follows:
This act shall be known and may be cited as the “Oklahoma Self-Defense Act of 2011”.
SECTION 2.     NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section <734> of Title <21>, unless there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
There shall be a presumption that a homicide occurred in self-defense or in defense of others if:
1. The deceased was engaged in or attempting to engage in an armed robbery;
2. The homicide was in close temporal proximity to the armed robbery; and
3. The homicide occurred on the property where the armed robbery had taken place.
This presumption is rebuttable by clear and convincing evidence that the homicide was not in self-defense or in the defense of others.
SECTION 3. This act shall become effective .
